Personal: Busy in 2017.

Oh me, oh my. I'm so sorry about that.

Apologies for going MIA, things have been... busy. 2016 came to an end and I was met with a 2017 that came fast and furious, and I'm not sure it's going to slow down anytime soon..

Hold on to your butts kids.

In the coming months my posts are going to be erratic,

At least four moves are going to be happening in 4 months, OH JOY.
Roommate moving out (THIS WEEKEND), helping the mother-in-law clean out her mother's house in Texas (DONE), helping mother-in-law out of her current place (NEXT WEEK), and finally hopefully my partner and myself are moving.

Top that off with having the children for Spring Break, we literally get them the day our roommate leaves.
I expect my stress level to be a roller coaster.

While I try to keep my personal life separate from my blog, once in awhile a life update is bound to happen.
I have a few reviews to post and I'll do my best to get right on that.

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving. Happy Indigenous Peoples.

My blog is a not a soapbox I expect to stand on and bring life views into discussion. It's just not the place, it not appropriate.
I never plan to bring religion, politics, or other heavily controversial issues to head here.

That said, not everyone celebrates today the same.

My hope is that everyone far and wide is able to put time aside for their family and friends, those they have in their lives and to take whatever time they can to enjoy it together. To be able to reflect and be thankful for what they have, what they value in life, and what they hope their future holds.

May you be able to have such a day. May you all have food in your bellies, shelter over your heads, clothes on your backs, and those you love with you. Not only today, but without your life.

My parents are over a thousand miles away, as well as my brother is about 500 miles, but my home is still open to those I have here. My partner, their relatives, and friends. Lured in by the promise of food and board games.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day, may you all find a way to be thankful and pass it on to others.

Happy Halloween 2016!

Boooo!
Ahhhh!
Hello and a Happy Halloween!

Personally when I think Halloween, I think fun. Silly, playful, magic in cool fall breeze kind of fun! Not horror, blood, guts, and trying to scare people. I find that unpleasant. None of that mess for me thanks.

With Halloween all in the air an upon us, what are some of your favourite Halloween things?

I personally love watching movie marathons. Who hasn't heard of 13 Nights of Halloween? Seriously, who doesn't think that's the siznit?
I am however, without cable. For about the 5th year in a row. (Thank you internet streaming services!) But some of those films may be on your movie shelf or available on Netflix, whatever your fancy I'm sure you can find something to entertain you.

Some of my personal favourite movies to watch around this time of the year, the Gingersnaps series. I'd consider them to be cult films, but there are 3 if you're interesting in watching them. (smile)

There are some pretty classic things, Hocus Pocus, Practical Magic, ParaNorman, Addams Family, Goosbumps, I'd say the 2015 film was okay.
The partner loves watching The Nightmare Before Christmas, on both Halloween AND Christmas.
Last but not least, the Halloweentown movies! One that doesn't pop up often but I enjoy, The Initiation of Sarah (2006). There's of course lots of witchy things like The Craft.

There's a few items still on my watch list, primarily Frankenweenie, another that comes to mind is Hotel Transylvania.

As I previously stated, not that into slasher films. That said, I was pretty big into watching the original version of horror movies in the early 2000s. Two that always come to mind are Ju-On: The Grudge (2002 Japanese) and Dark Water (2002 Japanese).

Growing up I was big into horror movies, but now I either their their too stupid or too dark and gory. There's some really twisted sick things out there that I'm don't think need to be made [for everyone to see].

Putting films aside, what else is Halloween known for? Trick-or-Treating? Maybe. But you can't do that without a costume.

We did a couples costume this year as...

Wayne's Word
Wayne Campbell & Garth Algar

I'm dressed as Wayne, the partner is Garth. We found most of our outfits at thrift stores or under $5 a piece.
The most we spent was on my Wayne's World hat, which was $10 with shipping.I'd also like to take the time to note my awesome thrift store find of a Paper Jamz guitar for 99¢!
We weren't sure of our evening plans, so we're dressed up all day walking around.
Being an adult is fun like that sometimes!

I'm also super excited for the day AFTER Halloween. Just like Easter, Valentine's Day, and Christmas.
"Hello cheap candy, you're coming home with me."

Did you dress up this year? What was your costume?! Party on readers, party on.

THE BLOG LIVES AND SO DO I!

Holy cow! So I've found my way back here. It's been almost 3.. years?!

Can we talk about those pages views doe! IT'S OVER 9,000!
*cough* Now that that jokes out of out of the way.

Quick Personal Rundown:
I'm now on the edge of my 27th birthday. I've moved from Florida, which is where I was most of the time this blog was active, to Oklahoma. I am currently living in Oklahoma City and looking to move back to the Jacksonville area early 2017. (I miss Florida too much!)
I have a long term committed partner, after being single for almost 6 years. (YAY!)
I'm currently a homemaker.
Both of my lovely kitty cats are still doing well.

Mind you I have done some cleaning of le house, or should I say 'le blog", and removing some old outdated posts, mostly personal things that I now feel are cluttering up the place!

While I'm still on the same level of reading. AKA Not as often as I should be but at least one a month if I'm good.
I am still hoping to bring a decent mixture of movie, TV, and book reviews.

I've never been much of a 'current' reader, and that hasn't changed. I'm more of a "Hey look at this book I found, it sounded interesting!" while at a thrift store of browsing a clearance shelf.

Speaking of which, have you hear of Hasting? Well there's one near me and they're going out of business. This sale has been going on for at least two months, slowly working down how marked off everything is. I made my final trip to our local one and picked over everything one section at a time.

Official started on Christmas shopping for the kids! As well as a load of books for myself.

That said, I ended up with 8 books total and spent $4 on most of them, and two for $.70 and $.17!

I snatched up Wake by Amanada Hocking
The Last Apprentice/Wardstone Chronicles by Joseph Delaney, Book 3, Book 4, Book 6, and Book 8. I already have the first one and bought the second one used off Amazon ($4 book!)
The Golden Specifice by S.E. Grove
This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner
The Thing About Luck by Cynthia Kadohata, Julia Kuo  (Currently reading)

To the future and onward!

Summer Reading: What's on your list?

(Source)
Hey everyone, I know I missed the official first week of summer, but that's okay! (The first day of summer being June 20th.) As summer is still here and not going anywhere, I think all is fine.

Like most people, come summer time I decided to make myself a few summer goals. One of those, being a summer reading list! sadly I only came up with a few things I really wanted to read. I'm hoping to get some more recommendations or find something I really want to read.

Summer Reading List (No order)

The Help by Kathryn Stockett
The Princess Bride by William Goldman
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

My list is actually very short, it's kind of embarrassing. Considering I've already read half of it.
That said, am looking for some recommendations!

Any books out there you think I should give a read?
I'm looking for 2-4 more, at least! I'm hoping to add some more YA to the list but not too many.

What are you guys planning to read? Do you have a reading list or just read what catches your eye/interest?

Hello there!

Once again I've decided to take a stab at blogging. Leaving all of my old tags and accounts behind!

I'm going to assume that I will have to fork over some personal information, so let's get on with that shall we? Hi, I'm Eli.

Facts:
- Female
- 22 years old
- Currently unemployed, but let's not get into that.
- I have one sibling, who I currently live with. An older brother, by 4 years.
- Eli isn't my real name. Long story short, I'm a bit of a gamer, through the internet, their communities, and programs such as Vent (Ventrilo); I do not use my real name, I simply go by "Eli".
Being called that for 2 years, it's only natural I respond to it.

- Eli is a name I've always liked.
- I am a pretty big nerd. I prove this by saying "I own my own Vent Server." ._.
- I am a cat person ALL THE WAY. I own two little fuzzy monsters. (Tom, male, pure black. Kerri (Kerrigan), female, pure white, odd-eyed cat.)
- I have had a LiveJournal account for over 7 years. Although I post less frequently now.

Now the part I'm horrible at..
Random Information:
- I LOVE Nyan cat.
- I'm known for using smilies (emotes) all the time. Usually what gives me away as a girl. *darn!*
- I watch almost anything I can get my hands on. More than I read. Which I think is probably not a good thing, but I enjoy it nonetheless.
- Love my Netflix's. My instant queue has hundreds of things waiting to be watched. Somehow I always find something new. (I'm not kidding)
- I've owned hermit crabs before. Cute little buggers..
- I love the Korean culture and hope one day to visit.
- I've spent 3 years of my life in Retail and HATE dealing with the public. Doesn't mean I still can't do it, if I have to, but I really don't enjoy it.
- I'm a thrifting junkie. I always have a story about some deal I got or something I got on sale. (I'm no coupon queen, sorry to time consuming. But I know where to get things on sale.)
- I know a bit of HTML and I sense Blogspot's design will slowly drive me insane. . .
- I love cooking. I can also bake. I do about 99.8% of the cooking in my household and I'm known for going on cooking/baking sprees. Among my friends I'm the one that gets asked, or is it assumed, to bring dessert for every get-together.
- I own a Kindle3 (old school E Ink with keyboard) and I ADORE it.
- I'm addicted to Shelfari.

Now I suppose a little more detail..
I'm creating a blog to get more into the writing and self-publishing community, as well as the reading and book communities that seem to be so nice and inviting here. More often than not, to look around and see what everyone is up to. (Shhh it's not lurking..) I have a couple of friends here and more that are looking to start. Thought I'd jump in and see how it goes

I'm also hoping *lies through her teeth* that it will help me to be more focused and driven to finally put my foot down and produce something.
I'm that person with 1001 ideas but no focus. I have outline after outline, summary after summary, and so little work to actually show for all I've thought up and created. I force myself to sit down and write. On occasion I will turn out a few chapters, take a step back, and somehow fall down a rabbit hole and get lost.

I also hope to read more. Due to shopping sales, used books, and thrift shops I've ended up with literally hundreds of books, most of which I haven't read. I want to start working on my pile of unread books.
Let's start making that happen!
Let's hope this blog doesn't add on to the list of things that get lost in the mess...
But still, no promises! ;)
